L'incontro

The fountain by artist Moradei "L'incontro", originally titled "Lympha", donated to the Municipality of Greve in Chianti, is an intervention that invites, as the title itself suggests, to a reflection on the cycle of life. The bronze figure is generated and reproduced by the water itself, seamlessly restoring the vitality from which it originated. A composed and silent sculpture that fits into the environmental context of the Church of Santa Croce in an absolutely non-invasive way and invites contemplation.
History of the author
Valentino Moradei is a direct descendant of a family of sculptors of the classical tradition such as Odoardo and Cesare Fantacchiotti and Donatello Gabbrielli. In his works there is, albeit in a different way, the classical academicism of great tradition in which we can recognize its value and composure.
Structure and Works
We find that classic Florentine academicism in the sculptures that represent the portraits of 'illustrious men', by Odoardo Fantacchiotti, placed in the niches of the Piazzale degli Uffizi, or on the facade of the Florentine Cathedral by the sculptor Cesare Fantacchiotti. However, his strongly figurative roots did not prevent him from capturing more modern experiences such as the great icon-monument, the Door-Window of 2003 for the Cooperative of Legnaia in Sollicciano.
Course of study
Valentino Moradei Gabbrielli, completed his studies in Florence at the Academy of Fine Arts. He completed his training by participating, from 1981 to 1983, in the Italian archaeological mission of Hierapolis in Phrygia (Turkey), where he worked as a restorer of ancient marbles. He is an absolutely unique artist in the choice of materials since he uses patinated concrete and synthetic resins. He is also active as a sculptor-scenographer for various Italian and foreign theaters. He exhibits in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, winning important awards. He won the Banca Mercantile Award of 1982 conferred on him by the art historian Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti and, in 1986, he received the "Filippo Albacini" sculpture award from the National Academy of S. Luca in Rome, conferred on him by the sculptor Fausto Melotti.
