The farm Felciano is located in the Chianti Classico area more precisely in Panzano in Chianti, in the heart of the valley of the "Conca d'Oro". The name Conca d'Oro refers to the sides of the hill, in fact, once completely cultivated with wheat that gave golden reflections, for this reason it is called Conca D'oro. Today the Chianti Classico vineyards are located in this valley.

THE COMPANY

The Morelli family moved into the farmhouse of Felciano in 1964 as sharecroppers. The sharecropping contract provided that the landowner and the farmer shared the produce of the farm. They were three brothers: Mario, Natalino and Bruno. With great passion they cultivated vineyards and olive groves. In 1977 the Morelli family became the owners of Felciano.

Today, Felciano is an important family business. Since 2002 the management has passed into the hands of Bruno’s son, Maurizio, who takes care of the company full time. Felciano covers an area of 12 hectares of which 5 are dedicated to viticulture, 2 are cultivated with olive groves and the remaining hectares are occupied by woods and farm roads. All Felciano wines are produced with grapes from our vineyards, hand picked and carefully selected. The vinification and aging processes take place in our cellar.
Our extra virgin olive oil is produced from our olives, pressed the same day of harvest to preserve the organoleptic characteristics.

In 2006 the barn was renovated a few meters from the main farmhouse. The renovated barn was used as a farmhouse in 2012. Every year, in spring and summer, we are happy to host tourists from all over the world to let them know and enjoy our territory. Our guests have the opportunity to walk among our vineyards and olive groves enjoying the wonderful territory of Chianti Classico.

BRAND IDENTITY

The name Felciano was formed by metathesis of the original Flecciano who in the past referred to the place where today stands the farmhouse of Felciano. The archaeological finds but especially the place names testify that in the past there was a widespread presence of Roman settlements in the countryside around Panzano. The names of the places, in fact, refer to Latin characters (Felciano and Panzano himself).

CURIOSITY

Since 2012 Felciano produces saffron, cultivated in a small strip of land. The collection and preparation of saffron require a lot of care and attention. The harvest is repeated every morning at dawn, before the sunlight makes the flowers open, throughout the flowering period, between the second half of October and the first of November. After the harvest there is the brushing which consists in the separation of the stigmas from the stamens and the bell-shaped flower. Both harvesting and brushing are done by hand. The last step is drying. In our territory we were the first to start production and this precious spice has received much enthusiasm from our customers. Felciano is a certified organic farm. Our key words are quality and respect for the environment.
