In short
The Xplorer app does not set its own cookies and does not use advertising or profiling cookies, whether ours or anyone else's. To work, it saves some information in your browser's storage (localStorage and sessionStorage): these are technical tools, needed to remember your sign-in and your choices, and they are not used to follow you on other sites.
What we store on your device
Sign-in: the data that keeps you signed in (an access code, one to renew it and the essential details of your profile). It is deleted when you sign out.
Preferences: your language, the area you chose, your recent searches and whether you have already seen the hint on how to scroll the feed.
Favourites: a copy of your saved places, so they show up straight away before they are reloaded.
Temporary data, kept until you close the browser tab: the last location detected (only if you allowed it), the area you are in, the draft of the photo you are uploading and the codes used while signing in with Google.
Other services
If you sign in with Google, you go through our authentication system and Google's pages, which may use their own technical cookies: their policies apply. Maps come from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address when your browser downloads the map images.
Statistics
We collect statistics on how the app is used ourselves, on our servers, without cookies and without third-party tools such as Google Analytics. Details are in the privacy policy.
How to delete this data
You can delete it at any time in your browser settings by clearing the site data. Signing out deletes the sign-in data. If you delete it, the app will ask you to sign in and choose your preferences again.
