Chianti, among vineyards, parish churches and stone villages

Between Florence and Siena, Chianti is a landscape of rolling hills covered with vineyards, olive trees, and woods, marked by stone villages, castles, and ancient parish churches. It is the land of Chianti Classico: here one comes to walk among the rows of vines, stop at a winery, and discover towns at a slow pace.

  • Villages and castles

Greve in Chianti has its arcaded square, Radda and Castellina preserve the medieval layout, Gaiole is surrounded by castles such as Brolio and Meleto. From one town to another the road runs through hills, villas and fortifications that recount the long rivalry between Florence and Siena.

  • Wine and oil

Chianti Classico, with its Black Rooster, is born from these hills and from Sangiovese. Many wineries open for visits and tastings, often together with the region's extra virgin olive oil. In autumn the grape harvest and the olive harvest change the rhythm and colors of the countryside.

  • On foot and by bike

White gravel roads and trails connect villages, parish churches, and farms. You can choose a stroll among the vines, a multi-day itinerary, or a bicycle ride on the hills: around Gaiole, the Eroica’s white gravel roads wind through the hills.
